Allergy Drop Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some Allergy Drop frequently asked questions and their answers to help you learn more about allergy drops and how they might help you and/or an allergy sufferer in your family!
Does the program work well for children?
Our allergy drops are great for children of all ages. Our program involves nearly painless testing and does not require painful shots. We are able to treat children as young as infants unlike a traditional allergy shot program that require children to be at least 7 years of age before beginning treatment.
Are oral drops scientifically proven?
Clinical studies have concluded that sublingual immunotherapy (allergy drops) is a safe treatment that reduces allergy symptoms. Sublingual Immunotherapy is endorsed by the World Health Organization and the ARIA guidelines (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma).
Are there any risks or side-effects?
Allergy drops are very safe and there has never been a significant, life-threatening reaction as a result of using allergy drops.
How long does it take to see results?
The vast majority of patients experience marked symptom relief within the first few months of starting treatment. Many patients see improvement in as little as a few weeks.
Will my insurance cover the cost of the allergy drops?
Most insurance plans do cover the cost of allergy testing and associated physical examinations/office visits. The actual sublingual serum (allergy drops) is not as widely covered. Many of our patients find that it is cheaper to pay cash for allergy drops than to pay the actual co-pays for allergy shots. Additionally, allergy drops are taken from the comfort of your home so there is no added expense of frequent visits to your doctor.
What are the allergy drops made of?
The allergy serum is made from the most common antigens found in the environment (the things you breathe in on a daily basis) in a liquid saline solution. They are all-natural!
Do allergy drops work for food allergies?
Yes! We offer an allergy serum that covers 59 different food items including milk, eggs, wheat, rice, soy, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Can the AllergyEasy program cure my allergies for good?
It can commonly take three to five years to “re-train” the immune system. After this point, some patients are able to stop taking the drops for life without relapse. Others stay on a basic maintenance dose to stay allergy-free.
