What is Wellness and Preventive Medicine?
A preventive service includes customized combination of screening tests, physical examinations, counseling, and treatment modalities custom tailored to your individual needs:

Will my doctor custom tailor a wellness and preventive health plan for me?
Absolutely! Your doctor will formulate regular interval check-ups, follow up examinations, coupled with comprehensive treatment plan specific to your health needs. This may include full array of up-to-date and proven treatment methods to affect your mind, body, and spirit. This will include life style changes, medications and supplements that help prevent health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, hormone imbalance, weight management, and acute and chronic health conditions. Camelback Health Care has a comprehensive array of treatment options including medical managed weight loss including HCG diet systems, bio-identical hormone replacement utilizing pellet therapy, and many other options.
Who pays for preventive services?
Most health insurance companies pay for at least some preventive services. If you aren’t sure what preventive services your insurance covers, read your health plan’s patient manual or call the health plan’s office.
Wellness and Women’s Health Services at Camelback Health Care.
Regardless of age, all women should have comprehensive wellness plan established with their personal doctor. Adult women should at minimum have their weight, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and well woman examinations performed regularly and annually. Camelback Health Care recommends that all adult women starting at age 21 or onset of sexual activity to be screened for cervical cancer and HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Mammograms are recommended for women with family history of breast cancer or are at higher risk for breast cancer. Every women after the age of 50 should have a mammogram at least every 2 years to screen for breast cancer. Colorectal screening for cancer should also be done after the age of 50. At Camelback Health Care, we believe prevention and early detection is the most optimal way to achieve healthy life style. These tests are routine preventive examinations and it does not mean that there is a suspcion of cancer but rather, a comprehensive preventive service offered to ensure wellness of our patients.
Camelback Health Care is acutely aware of bone density loss in pre and post menopausal women. To that end, we provide comprehensive bio-identical hormone replacement therapy utilizing pellets. We are vigilant about maintaining healthy Vitamin D levels and calcium supplementation. We also stress healthy diet, weight management, cholesterol monitoring, and regular exercise. We take extensive efforts to help with smoking cessation and counseling drug and alcohol use. Preventive and Well Child Examinations
Immunization or shots are one of the most important preventive services offered by Camelback Health Care for children. We have full complement of vaccines for all ages. Your personal doctor will perform a well child examination to make sure that the child is growing and developing appropriately. We stress healthy life style including diet, exercise, and tobacco prevention, drug and alcohol prevention, as well as safety advices. We also counsel parents and teens on sexually transmitted diseases, HIV prevention, and pregnancy prevention.

What can I do to maintain or obtain optimal health and wellness?
- Don’t use any form of tobacco. If you do use, make concerted efforts to stop.
- Eat a healthy balanced diet rich in protein, fiber, and nutrients and break up meals into 6 small portions each day. Breakfast should be the largest meal of the day.
- Drink plenty of water, avoid sodas, and sugar rich drinks.
- Exercise regularly. It doesn’t take much. Just 20 minutes each day is more than adequate.
- Use alchol sparingly if at all.
- Don’t use illegal drugs.
- Practice sensible and safe sex.
- Use seat belts (and car seats for children) when riding in a car or truck.
- Maintain a strong relationship with your personal doctor for regularly scheduled and customized wellness and preventive exams.
